FAQ-Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Sankhuwasabha Education Sponsorship Program?
The Program goal is to provide quality education to financially disadvantaged students of the Sankhuwasabha District in Eastern Nepal through donor sponsorship of children in need. The Sankhuwasabha Education Scholarship Foundation (SESF) manages this program and aims to provide opportunities to all needy children from Khandbari and surrounding districts.
How much does it cost to sponsor a child in Sankhuwasabha?
The cost to sponsor a child through Sankhuwasabha Education Sponsorship Program is USD$204 per year for each sponsored child. That is only USD $17 per month.
How much of my USD$17 monthly support will actually benefit the child?
A maximum total of USD$40 is spent by SESF to administer the Program. This fee covers salary and allowance for one program coordinator, bank account fees, communication and electricity costs, program evaluation and reporting, parent meetings and minor travel costs.
The balance of the sponsorship funds (USD $164) are distributed in the following way:

How can I track the progress of the child I sponsor?
At the end of each school term every sponsor will receive (via postal mail) the following items related to the child:
· A copy of the child’s school report forms
· Two letters from the child ideally after each examination period
· Picture of the child

May I send gifts to my sponsored child?
Yes! All gifts can be sent directly to the project. Please send any gifts via mail to the following address:
Sankhuwasabha Education Scholarship Foundation
Himalaya Higher Secondary School, Khandbari
Sankhuwasabha District
Koshi zone
Nepal
Please ensure that the name of your sponsored child and the child’s identification number is clearly marked on the package.
How can I communicate with my sponsored child?
Frequent contact between the child and sponsor is encouraged. It lets you connect with your child and lets him/her feel loved. You can communicate through letters mailed to the above address (as with the gifts) or via email. Emails will be printed by the Project Director and delivered to the child, as there is no direct access to the Internet in the community. The village is remote, lacks power and has limited Internet services. The email address to send to is sesf2345@ntc.net.np
What are your letter writing guidelines?
Do:
· Correspond frequently
· Tell them about things you enjoy doing
· Tell them about your job, school and family
· Tell them about your hobbies and interests
· Tell them about places you have visited
· Share your hopes and dreams for the future
· Include pictures of you and your family
