The Sankhuwasabha Education Scholarship Foundation (SESF) is a registered non-profit charity established at Himalaya Secondary School on June 4,1997.
The Himalaya Higher Secondary School is located in Khandbari Bazaar in the Sankhuwasabha district of eastern Nepal. It is one of the oldest government schools of this district. The school was founded in 1950, originally as a Primary school, and then in 1961 became a Secondary school. Since 2000 the Himalayan Higher Secondary School has 1,500 students between classes 1 –12.
SESF was established to provide the poorest children, primarily girls in the Sankhuwasabha district with an education scholarship so they have equal access to a quality education.
The Himalayan Higher Secondary School mission is to raise role models and empower youth and children with the requisite skills they will need to become self-reliant in the future.
SESF impacts the lives of our youth through:
· Improved education status
· Decline in school drop out rates
· Creating more diverse and self-reliant future leaders
· Reduces social inequalities, but allowing our sponsored children equal access to education.
The Himalayan Higher Secondary School believes that contributing positively to the social, educational and political well-being of youth and children through awareness, support and the enthusiasm of the teaching staff is making the school as successful as possible.
